Rider Safety and Group Riding
Safety is one of our greatest concerns. Sometimes it seems that we are endlessly going over the same principles again and again. It is to remind each one of us what needs to happen when we get out on the road. Let’s face it, riding motorcycles can be a dangerous sport. Regardless of your experience level, something can always go wrong. So, stay safe and keep the rubber side down.
As H.O.G. members we all share a bond that is second to none. The chapter activities and rides that we participate in throughout the year only reinforce this.
We have a lot of new members that we all look forward to meeting and riding with this year, and how we ride together safely in either small or large groups is extremely important. It is also important we are all on the same page for everyone’s concern. On website under the Safety menu is a document titled, “Rider Tips & Training”. We recommend you read and even down load and print it out for reference. It explains exactly how experienced riders ride together comfortably and safely. It gives basic guidelines for safe riding that should always be followed. If you have any questions about it or need further clarification, please contact one of our Road Captains. Although we realize we don’t know it all and may not have all the answers, our Road Captains are all eager to help you become a safer rider by answering any questions or concerns you may have. We seem to always have the most “close calls” when we have rides with people that have little or not experience in group riding. Please read all of the safe riding guidelines and make sure to pass it along to your friends and fellow bikers.
